Beach days, braids and bohemian luxe vibes were the order of the day as we teamed up with some amazing wedding pros for a dream styled shoot! But what people sometimes ask is –
Why a styled shoot? What’s the POINT and why do YOU care?
Our careers as wedding photographers means that we constantly hone our craft and skills. We don’t have too – but we make this investment – to keep fresh, to bring new and better ways of doing things to our clients. To chase the light in different settings and situations – have we shot a wedding on a beach? No. Would we love to – hell yes! A styled shoot in this setting gives us the time to experiment and play, but a huge part for James and Myself is that we need to flex our creative muscles.
We are really creative and artistic in our approach, we like to keep ahead of trends and to be able to give this to you, for us to feel in love with what we do – we need to play, we need to feed our artistic urges to keep that sparkle. We also know that our Couples are creative too – they want ideas from us and they expect to visit our blog and be INSPIRED.
Working for yourselves can get a little lonely and bringing together a team of like-minded wedding pros means that we get to connect, spend some time to bounce ideas off one another and join forces to support our businesses whilst creating something fun and fresh for each of our portfolios.
It’s all for our clients, for you reading our blog and enjoying the images – maybe we will have the privilege of working with you one day too! But, it takes a huge amount of time and effort – and even money to be part of these shoots. It’s not all just fun on the beach trying something new – that’s the highlight!
We spend months working on each shoot.
Creating a story, a concept and different pieces to style into it, finding dream suppliers who are excited to be part of it, co-ordinating everyone’s schedules, our house being filled with props and pieces for a week, going over every minute detail over and over again to ensure nothing is forgotten and everything matches, planning the shots we want, scouting for a location and planning where each thing will be shot, checking the weather and stressing about rain being due – sometimes having to re-schedule everyone because of this.
The list is vast and it’s not for the faint hearted!
But we love it! We have learnt so much from each shoot – and it’s not about technical skills, it’s about composition, your eye to SEE things, to see a shoot no-one else would have. It’s working against problems – sometimes things can run late – way over and then the lights going, dealing with these hurdles – all these lessons translate to us growing, in many different ways.
And we do this for YOU, our clients xo
