You’ll have heard of numerous terms when looking for your wedding photographer, like ‘Fine Art Photographer’ or ‘Lifestyle Photographer’ and you’re probably wondering what those titles mean for you and in terms of your wedding day! One reason why I’m not going to go too much into these specific labels is that so many people these days are tagging themselves under certain coveted terms when their work actually isn’t that – and so we don’t want to confuse you further. Let’s forget the labels and just tell you about us, what our approach is and what that means for you.
We’re creative – and we mesh a range of different techniques and skills to capture a wedding as it unfolds but also the tiny details that later when all put together with the special moments – create a bigger picture. They tell a story and a more artistic.
For example, there’s capturing your Bridal Portrait, and then there are the things we see differently that create more detail and are every bit as important. Just like this…
Some might say ‘but you’ve chopped a load of her off’ or wonder what on Earth is the point in these images – and others appreciate the dreamy essence they have. It’s just a way of seeing differently and seeing these tiny moments – you aren’t even doing anything different – it’s just that we are capturing these intricacies.
Enjoyment – we love an atmosphere at a wedding and by that we mean the ones that are mix of relaxed and brimming with laughter and fun. As well as sneaking about photographing you and your guests natural enjoying yourselves without you realising it – we absolutely get involved in creating this kind of cheerful enjoyment when we’re interacting with you all too! It’s all about the good vibes!
It’s about quality not quantity – it’s not necessarily about having two photographers constantly snapping away at you or being the paparazzi. Working as a duo means that’ we’re super efficient with timings as we can assist and set things up for one another too – for example one us is capturing your group shots whilst the other is directing everyone into place and trying to round up guests for the next shot.
One of us may be photographing details of your beautiful reception whilst the other is creating a pretty scene with the Bride’s bouquet and shoes, or doing some technical testing and setting up. All of these things take time and they create a great collection of images with variety and a very considered mix of beautiful natural moments, portraits, details of your decor, groups and some more stylised shots.
The bulk of our work is AFTER the wedding – the images you see gracing our blog and portfolio don’t actually come straight out of the camera looking like that. We have an editing process which creates these beautiful colour tones which emulate file photography. As much as this process can be painstaking sat at a computer editing a wedding for up to 40 hours – it’s so exciting! We love seeing the images come to life!
We’ve spent a tremendous amount of time over years creating the look which makes up our style and this is what we bring to every single image.
